Virtual Light Festival

The work false mirror + sticks refers on the one hand to the light show showcased 2011 as a permanent light installation in the renowned  techno club Grelle Forelle in Vienna, on the other hand, the artist represents with the title false mirror a reference to the works NEON EGO, which has been previously presented at Galerie am Lindenplatz.

In terms of content, NEON EGO, as well as false mirror, addresses the phenomenon of the "selfie" that has emerged in the course of digitalization and has become widespread through social media. Here, a discrepancy is deliberately created between the principle of the actual selfie and the photographing of one's own reflection.

The individual sticks correspond in their geometric orientation to the lights permanently placed in the Grellen Forelle. The formal realization of sticks differs, however, in their placement, in that they are contextualized here as light stelae re-appearing from the ground.
